Donyell Malen would have likely been posing with a Reds’ shirt, were it not for the club’s inability to shift their fringe players, according to a report.

The Daily Star cites Fabrizio Romano as claiming the 22-year-old Dutch star wanted to join Jurgen Klopp’s side, but instead settled for a move to the German manager’s former side Borussia Dortmund who paid PSV Eindhoven £25 million for his services.

The article adds the likes of Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri are still stuck firmly at Anfield as another window appears to be drifting past without a transfer in the offing.

Liverpool are eyeing a move for Guido Rodriguez of Real Betis, according to a report.

Sport Witness says Jurgen Klopp’s side are in the market for a new midfielder after Gini Wijnaldum's departure and cites La Razon as claiming that they ‘think of Rodríguez’ as the Dutchman’s successor.

The article states:

The 27-year-old has a release clause of €80m, but Manuel Pellegrini’s side are willing to let the player leave if they receive a fee of €30m.

Real Betis will have to pay 25 percent of the fee to the Argentina international’s former side, Club América. A deal worth €30m wouldn’t be ‘bad’ for the Spanish club, considering they invested only €3m to acquire his services.

With Liverpool thinking of the South American, La Razón explain Real Betis ‘could be forced to sell’ Rodríguez this summer.

Matt Addison speaks to Guido Schäfer, the journalist who broke the story that Ibrahima Konate was signing for Liverpool from RB Leipzig, for our latest Blood Red podcast.

Schafer is a former team-mate of Jurgen Klopp at Mainz but he now covers Leipzig for the Leipziger Volks-Zei-Tung newspaper in Germany.

And in the pod he gives an unrivalled insight into the deal that brought Konate to Liverpool, and what the centre-back is like as a person and as a player.

Manchester City are keeping tabs on Lille defender Sven Botman after the centre back attracted interest from Liverpool and Manchester United, according to a report.

Botman was a regular for Lille last season and played a key role in helping them beat Paris Saint-Germain to the Ligue 1 title, with the club keeping an impressive 21 clean sheets.

The 21-year-old has been linked with a move to several Premier League clubs this summer including Liverpool, Manchester United, West Ham and Newcastle.

However, the Daily Mail cites L'Equipe as claiming that Pep Guardiola's side are also monitoring the Dutchman after being alerted to his availability this summer.
