Liverpool fans have been reacting online after Thiago Alcantara was left out of the Spain team for their opening Euro 2020 game.
Luis Enrique’s side kick-off their campaign against Sweden at the Estadio La Cartuja in Seville tonight.
Preparations for Euro 2020 for both teams have been far from ideal, with both camps having to contend with key players testing positive for Covid-19.
And with captain Sergio Busquets ruled out of the game after testing positive for Covid, many believed Thiago would be given the nod in midfield.
But instead, Enrique has opted to go with Atletico Madrid’s Koke and Manchester City’s Rodri in the heart of his midfield.
Thiago is named among the substitutes, but many Liverpool fans have been left questioning Enrique’s call.
Speaking about the mood inside the camp earlier this week, Thiago said: “We’re at the point where we do what they tell us to do.
“We’re going to do everything they tell us to get to the first game ready to compete. The team are really working spectacularly given the situation; I think we’re going to debut well. We’re used to this situation; it’s been a year-and-a-half living with covid-19.

“I was with my family [after testing positive], and the first thing that came to my mind was their protection, as well as my colleagues.
I said this happens to me, so please isolate me; don’t have anyone around. I had it really bad, and I hope nobody gets it like me, but I’m aware there are cases worse than mine, even fatal.”
Spain take on Sweden tonight, before facing Poland on Saturday and Slovakia next Wednesday in their final group game.
