Liverpool fans raise question over Sadio Mane incident in win against Southampton

Liverpool fans felt Southampton's Jan Bednarek could have been sent off for his challenge on Sadio Mane in the first-half of yesterday's match at Anfield.

The Reds comfortably beat Ralph Hasenhuttl's side 4-0 on Saturday afternoon but shortly after Diogo Jota scored Liverpool's first, Bednarek was booked for a tackle on Mane.

Jurgen Klopp gives update on talks over Liverpool players leaving for Africa Cup of Nations

Liverpool are set to be without Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Naby Keita during the AFCON tournament set to take place in early January next year.

Manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed the club are still in talks to ensure the late release of their players for the Africa Cup of Nations.

FIFA rules state “players must be released and start travel to their representative team no later than Monday morning the week preceding the week when the relevant final competition starts”.

That means the last game in which the trio would be available is the home game against Leeds United on Boxing Day.

Liverpool are just one of a number of top-flight clubs who want to delay the release of their players, which would allow them to stay for an extra week.
