Liverpool face playing away from Anfield until they win Premier League with Merseyside Derby potentially in Manchester

LIVERPOOL face playing away from Anfield until they have at least won the title.

Prem clubs were yesterday told of the plan which could see the Mersey derby staged in MANCHESTER.

Authorities have fears Kop fans will congregate near Anfield to celebrate the end of their 30-year wait for title success.

Meanwhile, some all-London derbies including the Tottenham versus Arsenal clash are likely to be held at alternative venues.

Police demands over Project Restart — which will see the Prem return on June 17 — were met with disapproval from clubs and they will continue to discuss the issues over the next week before a final vote next Thursday.

Liverpool hold a 25-point lead over Manchester City with nine games left and could seal their title triumph quickly after the restart.

City, who will return against Arsenal on June 17 — their game in hand — know they must win all their remaining ten fixtures but that will still only get them to 87 points.

A defeat for Pep Guardiola’s side against the Gunners would mean Jurgen Klopp’s Reds could head into their away game against Everton on June 20 or 21 knowing victory would clinch it.

As a result, the police do not want the match played at Goodison.

And it looks likely Liverpool’s home game against Crystal Palace at the end of June will also be played away from Merseyside.

This could continue until they finally lift the title and their remaining games are effectively dead rubbers.

Kop legend Phil Thompson said: “There won’t be any fans in the stadium and shouldn’t be any anywhere near it.

“Whenever it happens, whatever game, it’ll be something special.”

Tottenham’s home game with West Ham could be staged at Wembley while their clash with Arsenal may be switched to the London Stadium.
