The Liverpool City Region recorded a significant drop in positive Covid tests.

According to the latest data from Public Health England, the City Region recorded 6,621 cases in the week ending July 22, 1,194 fewer cases than in the previous week.

This means the week on week percentage change decreased by 15%.

Every part of the city region saw a fall in positive tests, apart from Halton - albeit the week on week percentage increase in Halton equated to just a single case more than the previous seven days.

Of all the city region areas, it Wirral recorded the biggest percentage change week on week change, with a 23% fall.

Warrington, Cheshire West and Chester, and West Lancs all recorded decreases in positive tests.

In England, positive tests decreased. In the week ending July 22, England recorded 251,469 coronavirus cases, which is 16,007 fewer cases than in the previous seven days.

Liverpool

Liverpool's positive tests came to 2,140 cases in the week ending July 22, which is 334 fewer cases than in the previous week. This meant the week-on-week percentage change decreased by 14%.

The latest infection rate was 429.7 cases per 100,000 people.

Sefton

In Sefton, there were 1,102 cases in the week ending July 22, 261 fewer cases than in the previous week. This means the week-on-week percentage change decreased by 19%.

The latest infection rate was 398.7 per 100,000 people.

Wirral

There were 1,303 positive tests in the week ending July 22, which is 380 fewer cases than in the previous week. Wirral 's week-on-week percentage change decreased by 23%. The latest infection rate was 402.1 cases per 100,000 people.

Halton

There were 524 positive tests over the last week, which is one more case than in the previous week.

This means the week-on-week percentage change increased by 0.2% in the week ending July 22. The latest infection rate is 404.9 cases per 100,000 people.

St Helens

There were 878 positive tests in the week ending July 22, which is 86 fewer cases than in the previous week.

The latest infection rate was 486.2 cases per 100,000 people. The week-on-week percentage change in St Helens decreased by 9%.

Knowsley

There was a total of 674 cases in the week ending July 22, which is 134 fewer cases than in the previous week.

The latest infection rate is 446.8 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases decreased by 17% week on week.

Liverpool City Region

There were 6,621 positive tests over in the week ending July 22, which is 1,194 fewer cases than in the previous week.

This means the week on week percentage change decreased by 15%. The latest infection rate is 388.84 cases per 100,000 people.

West Lancs

West Lancashire recorded 538 coronavirus cases in the week ending July 22, which is 42 fewer cases than in the previous seven days.

There was an infection rate of 470.67 per 100,000 people, and there was a week on week percentage decrease of 7% in infections.

Warrington

There were 1,085 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending July 22, which is 196 fewer cases than the previous week.

The week on week percentage figure decreased by 15%. There was an infection rate of 516.63 per 100,000 people.

Cheshire West and Chester

There were 1,341 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending July 22, which is 261 fewer cases than the previous week.

The latest infection rate is 390.88 cases per 100,000 people, and there was a week on week percentage decrease of 16% in cases.

England

In England in the week ending July 22, there was an infection rate of 446.76 per 100,000 people.

The nation recorded 251,469 coronavirus cases, which is 16,007 fewer cases than in the previous seven days.

There was a week on week percentage decrease of 6% in cases.
