Lane has now re-opened

All lanes have now re-opened but there is still a lot of congestion in the area. We are just waiting to hear from emergency services about any injuries.

Heavy congestion at Cardiff Gate

Congestion is heavier than normal at junction 30 Cardiff Gate because of the accident. This is taken from the Traffic Wales camera and show traffic queuing to come off the motorway.

Emergency services at the scene

Traffic monitoring system Inrix is showing that the accident happened just before 7.30am and that ambulance and the fire service are currently at the scene.

Congestion back to the M4

Traffic is queued along the A48 westbound back to the motorway. This is taken from the Traffic Wales camera at St Mellons.

A crash blocked one lane of a busy morning route into Cardiff.

It happened on the westbound carriageway of the A48 Eastern Avenue at around 7.30am on Friday morning. Traffic monitors are showing a lot of congestion in the area, and that the queues are back to the motorway junction at 29A and junction 30 Cardiff Gate.

It is also slower going eastbound as people slow to look at the accident. A witness said that police, fire and ambulance were at the scene.
