There are hour-long delays on the M60 near to the Trafford Centre following a collision involving three cars.

The smash took place on the anti-clockwise carriage near to junction 11 for Barton.

One lane is closed and Highways England says that there are queues of up to eight miles, stretching back to the M62 and M61.

Tailbacks are building up to junction 18 for Simister Island, while there are also delays to the M61 southbound on approach to Swinton Interchange.

Drivers are being warned of delays of up to an hour.

A tweet from Highways England said: "Please be aware there are delays of over 40 minutes on the approach to this  #M60 incident with eight miles of queuing traffic on the approach through the area back to the M62 and the M61 please allow extra time this morning."

One lane blocked and long delays due to accident in the roadworks area the on M62 eastbound from J11 A574 Birchwood Way (Birchwood) to J12 M60 M602 (Eccles Interchange). Congestion to J10 (M6 Croft interchange). Travel time is around 45 minutes. Lane three (of three) is blocked.
