Martin Compston fuelled excitement for BBC police drama Line of Duty as he shared a sneak preview of the season six script on Saturday.

The actor, who plays Detective Steve Arnott, teased fans as he took to Instagram to post a cheeky glimpse at his new script while revealing he is "scared" in the caption.

Martin, 35, remained tight-lipped about the highly-anticipated sixth series as he hinted that rehearsals and filming are preparing to get underway for episode one of the new season.

He captioned the photo of the script, writing: " Guys… I’m scared," before taking to his Instagram stories and sharing the same snap.

He hilariously wrote: "Don’t look directly at it," alongside the image as he continued to add to fans' growing excitement.

Teasers to Line of Duty's sixth season have been circulating social media with the director sharing an unusual plot clue to Twitter this week.

The writer shared a picture of some Tim Tam biscuits labelled "Arnott’s Tim Tams" with the Tweet: "#LineofDuty Series 6 Plot Clue No. 1."

Some viewers attempted to decipher the cryptic post and pointed that the biscuits are made by Arnott's - the same surname as Martin's investigator character Steve.
