Latest child to die in UK street knife crime

Investigators urge eyewitnesses to break the wall of silence after the name of a teenager killed in knife violence in London .

Deshaun James Tuitt, 15, was devastated last Thursday at Highbury Field, north of London.

Paramedics fought to save his life, but he died in hospital shortly after being attacked.

The park was filled with teenagers at the time, according to the London Metropolitan Police. The Metropolitan Police urged the witness to come forward and secure justice for his family.

"A most tragic incident," said the victim, who "had put his life in front of him, and now it has been brutally taken away." As a direct appeal to the teens of the world, he said: Forward. 

``Think about the DeShawn family looking for answers. We may have information about you, don't keep it to yourself. 

"If you tell us confidentially, we will support you.

"We also urge anyone who was in the park that night who may have been a victim of another crime himself to report to us, as it may help in this investigation."

He said there was a heightened police presence around the parks and that special efforts were being made to address violence in public spaces during summer heatwaves.

An autopsy found DeShawn's cause of death to be stab wounds, shock and bleeding, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said.

Specially trained police officers help grieving teenage families.

Detective Detective Ben Dalloway: "The investigative team is committed to ensuring justice for DeShawn and his family.

"We are available around the clock. We are working on it and would appreciate hearing from anyone who was at Highbury Field between 8:00pm and 9:00pm on Thursday, August 4.

"Someone running or acting suspiciously. Could you help me sketch out the full picture of the events that led to DeShawn's stabbing?

"For the time being, the area will continue to encounter police Please give the police any information you have."
