Firefighters are currently tackling a large fire at the Transwaste recycling site in Hull.

Humberside Fire and Rescue Service were called to Foster Street just before 6pm on Saturday evening where a large amount of pallets caught fire.

The inferno can be seen over the fences of Transwaste recycling plant with black smoke billowing into the skies above.

Fire at the Transwaste site in Foster Street

There are currently three appliances at the scene tackling the blaze.

Humberside Fire and Rescue Service said: “There is a fire in Foster Street. We have three appliances out there at the moment.

“It is still going on at the moment and we will have more information later. As far as we know it is a large amount of pallets on fire.”

Two years ago a large fire erupted at the Transwaste site in Welton with residents told to close windows as huge plumes of smoke billowed from the recycling site.
