Emergency services have been called to the scene of an 'incident' outside an old police station.

At around 6.20pm on Saturday, the police and ambulance were called to Manchester Road in Accrington, close to Grants Bar at the junction with Spring Gardens.

It is believed a man was being treated by paramedics on the floor outside the old police station, but it is not known the exact nature of the incident.

Although police have not provided any details, the Force Incident Manager did say there had been no road closures in place.

The FIM said: "We will not be commenting further."

However, passers by commenting on social media said there were several police cars and ambulances in the area and the road close to the old police station had been blocked.

One passer-by said: "Accident outside the old [fire] station 6.30 this morning.

"Guy on the floor being treated by ambulance staff and the road outside the old [fire] station is closed off at the moment."

Updates to follow.
