In 2010, she underwent a life-saving open heart surgery and a second open heart surgery in 2019.

She later used the Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity-funded Royal Hospital for Children's Teddy Hospital to relieve the anxieties surrounding her surgery.

Since her surgery, Isla has volunteered an incredible 80 hours for Glasgow Children ’s Hospital Charity.

Isla's mother, Jill Stewart, toldLanarkshire Live:

"Many of the milestones of Halloween, Christmas, Easter, etc. were spent in the hospital, so their support is important to make things feel somewhat" normal "to us. It was a part.

"In 2017, Isla discovered that she had to do another heart surgery. She didn't remember anything she had experienced, so she had a lot to prepare for heart surgery. Preparation was needed.

"Among them, the charity-funded Teddy Hospital was irreplaceable. She became what was in front of her through structured play therapy. I was able to prepare and learn about future steps using real equipment.

The Balmore Group also provides support

"What does his sister do, even her brother Euan? There were several sessions to understand what we were trying to experience.

"We took a charity-sponsored walk in 2019 shortly after heart surgery. Her consultant I was so impressed that Isla managed to walk the distance she did. We are excited to be involved in it again.

"The life touched by the charity. Looking at the number of people and all the people who gathered to help them, it's very humble. "

The annual walk is back for the first time in three years to help the family and in the meantime. We are celebrating our 20th anniversary since we raised over £ 41 million.

Fundraiser can choose to walk 3km or 10km on Sundays. Both routes begin and end at the idyllic Kelvin Grove Park on the western end of the city.

Fully accessible sponsored walk routes are suitable for all families. Adult entry prices are £ 14.

Children 5 years old can participate for £ 8 and children up to 4 years old can enter for free.

This event is sponsored by the family-owned Balmore Group (Scotland)
