Manchester United are reportedly one of several Premier League clubs chasing the signature of Sheffield United youngster Kyron Gordon.

The 18-year-old is the latest academy prospect to impress from Bramall Lane, following the footsteps of Kyle Walker, United skipper Harry Maguire, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Phil Jagielka.

Sheffield United have a particular habit of developing top-class centre-backs so it's little surprise that their latest hot property is attracting interest.

Gordon is yet to make his Premier League debut for the Blades but he has been named on the bench on three occasions this season.

With Manchester United linked with the youngster, here's everything you need to know.

Who is he?

Gordon is an 18-year-old defender who has impressed for the club's under-23s this campaign, which has seen him involved in first-team training following a spate of injuries.

Previous boss Chris Wilder and current temporary manager Paul Heckingbottom have both reportedly been impressed with Gordon’s development and attitude as the teenager pushes for his breakthrough into the first-team squad.

Gordon is one of Sheffield United's most highly-rated youngsters and therefore the Blades are keen to hold onto the defender.

The teenage centre-back came through the youth ranks at Sheffield United and put pen to paper on his first professional contract with the club back in 2019.

He has made four appearances for the Blades’ under-18 side in the FA Youth Cup this campaign and is a regular for the under-23s.

He's also been on the bench three times so far this season.

How likely is a transfer?

Gordon has one year left on his contract and the summer could be decisive as far as his future goes.

With Sheffield United heading back to the Championship, a promise of first-team opportunities could persuade Gordon to pen fresh terms.

However, if those discussions are not forthcoming, it could convince the youngster to jump ship, especially with clubs like Manchester United interested in his signature.

Who else is interested?

Reports from the Daily Mail claim Manchester United and Leeds United are frontrunners to sign Gordon, though there is interest from Merseyside.

Everton and Liverpool have also taken note of Gordon’s progress but now Manchester United and Leeds lead the way, having scouted the young defender in action already.

With the summer transfer window still some way off, Gordon will have to wait to find out what his future holds.
