Kylie Minogue stuns as she steps back into mechanic overalls of her Neighbours character Charlene Robinson

KYLIE MINOGUE is giving fans a vintage gift this Christmas – all the way from the 1980s.

The pop princess steps back in time, and into the overalls of her old Neighbours character Charlene Robinson, in this exclusive snap of her aged 51.

She has returned to her roots as the feisty mechanic, who she played between 1986 and 1988, for a Christmas Day TV message called Kylie & Mates. It will air on ITV just before the Queen's address at 3pm.

The Spinning Around singer is then back on the box later in the evening for Channel 4 show Kylie’s Secret Night and in a nostalgic clip she leads fans in a singalong of Eighties power ballad Suddenly, by Angry Anderson.

The song earned a place in pop-culture history when it was chosen by Neighbours bosses for Charlene’s wedding to Scott, played by Jason Donovan.

The episode was watched by an incredible 19.6million Brits in 1988 and over the next five years, nearly 500,000 babies were named Kylie.

Kylie’s Secret Night, which airs at 10.30pm, also sees her meet some of the twenty and thirtysomethings named in her honour.

Maybe 2020 will be the year Kylie pays a proper visit to Neighbours’ Ramsay Street.
