A key road in Blackburn town centre is closed this afternoon after a multi-vehicle collision.

Emergency services, including police and paramedics, were called to King Street at around 3.20pm today (March 2).

Lancashire Police said the crash happened near to the junction with Stonyhurst Road, close to Home Bargains.

A spokesperson said the incident involves 'two or three vehicles' but were not able to provide any further details at this time.

North West Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.

King Street remains closed in both directions

King Street remains shut in both directions between Montague Street and Stonyhurst Road.

Traffic alert service Inrix said: "A674 King Street in both directions closed, slow traffic due to accident between A6078 Montague Street and Stonyhurst Road. Near Home Bargains Store."
