Murderer stabbing real estate agent with home decor set to be executed

A death row inmate who stabbed a real estate agent more than 30 times with a piece of home decor will be executed by lethal injection.

Texas plans to execute Kosoul Chanthakoummane, 41, who was convicted of murder in 2006, at a model home in Collin County at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Chanthakoummane, who has been on death row for 15 years, is scheduled to receive injections of pentobarbital at the state execution facility in Huntsville.

His lawyers have not indicated whether they will appeal to the US Supreme Court to stay the execution.

Chanthakoummane had been released on parole on aggravated kidnapping and robbery charges, but prosecutors said he entered his McKinney model home and a 40-year-old real estate agent, He said he killed Sarah Walker.

Walker was found with dozens of wounds.Prosecutors said the assailant used a wooden flowerpot found in a model home in the attack. The man also stole a Rolex watch and a silver ring, but was never found.

Chanthakoummane admitted to being at the model's home, but says he only went in to drink water. He maintains his innocence in Walker's death.

Chanthakoummane was convicted primarily due to his DNA evidence. Police found a large amount of his blood at the crime scene, including under Walker's fingernails.

His lawyers dismissed his DNA evidence and requested that his execution be postponed until further investigations were completed.

Texas Court of Appeals denied stay.

"Any belief in his Chanthakoummane that further investigation of his DNA would yield useful results in his case is fictional," the Texas Attorney General's Office argued.

However, Chanthakman's trial was plagued by errors of evidence. A forensic dentist testified that bite marks on Walker's neck matched Chanthakmain's teeth. This evidence was completely destroyed by the Court of Appeals in 2020.

Additionally, his two witnesses who placed Chanthak Main at the crime scene did so only after being hypnotized by Texas law enforcement.

If Chanthakoummane is executed, he will become the ninth person on death row in the United States this year.
