A killer has been jailed for four months after his pal’s toddler son found his gun and shot himself dead.
Reco Ontreal Reed, 28, was also ordered to serve five years probation as he was sentenced for the manslaughter of three year-old Tyler Burnett Tuesday.
The youngster was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital shortly afterwards.
It is unclear why Reed brought the gun into Burnett’s home.
He grabbed it and fled after Tyler killed himself, but was apprehended by police four hours later.
The married dad of three struck a plea agreement which saw him face a far lighter sentence than the 10 year maximum for manslaughter.
That agreement also saw a charge of evidence tampering, which carries a maximum 20 year sentence, dropped.
Reed admitted manslaughter a week before he was due to stand trial, the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported.
Speaking after the toddler was shot, his cousin Maryanna Davis told KATV: ‘I was like, please don’t let that be my cousin because they play around with guns, like fake guns.
‘It’s horrible, like I can’t believe it’s true. I thought I was dreaming.’
