Harvey Price’s dad Dwight Yorke has taken such little interest in him that he relies on his agent to ask how he is.

The revelation, which shows the depths of his indifference to his 19-year-old son, was made by Amy Price, Harvey’s maternal grandmother who has helped raise him alongside his mum Katie.

Writing in 43-year-old Katie’s new parenting tome, Harvey and Me, she explains how it’s time former Manchester United ace Dwight, 49, finally stepped up.

She says: “I think it’s sad that Dwight isn’t in Harvey’s life. His agent has always been in contact with me. If Harvey isn’t well, she’ll message me and ask how he is.

“But Dwight never asks himself.

“In 2020, Harvey was hospitalised and was really poorly in intensive care. Dwight’s agent rang me and asked how bad he was. I said, ‘Look, this has got to stop now. If Dwight wants to know about Harvey, he’s got our number and he should ring us himself.’

“He shouldn’t be going through his agent. It’s about time he took some responsibility. But we’ve heard nothing from Dwight, which is a shame. Harvey is also missing out on a relationship with his brother, as Dwight has another son.

“It really is such a shame because we always had a good relationship with Dwight.”

Katie became pregnant with Harvey, who was born in May 2002, while briefly dating former Premier League footballer Dwight.

But their relationship was very short-lived as Katie found out her baby daddy had cheated on her live on camera while she was secretly pregnant with her eldest son.

The glamour model was on a lingerie photoshoot when she was presented with evidence Dwight had been partying with other women, despite getting her pregnant 14 weeks previously.

Katie ended up breaking the news of her pregnancy after Dwight's affair with Australian model Gabby Richens was exposed..

Dwight initially denied that he was Harvey's biological father and demanded a DNA test but later agreed to put his name on the birth certificate, and even tried to insist that Harvey had his surname.

Harvey is partially sighted, on the autism spectrum and has Prader-Willi syndrome which means he is unable to regulate his appetite.

Amy, who is living with a life-shortening lung disease, added that Katie’s relationship with Peter Andre, who became a father figure to Harvey for many years, also interfered with Dwight bonding with his son.

She adds: “In my opinion, I think Pete being with Katie interfered a lot when it came to Dwight’s relationship with Harvey. Dwight and Pete never got on. Pete said he wanted to adopt Harvey and Dwight was shocked by that.

“I think one of the main reasons Dwight didn’t visit Harvey at the house was because he felt uncomfortable around Pete. I also think Dwight found Harvey’s disabilities confusing. He just couldn’t understand why Harvey was so ill and why he had so many problems. I think he found it really hard to accept.”

The Mirror have a approached Dwight Yorke's representatives for comment.

Dwight previously claimed that he isn’t involved in Harvey’s life due to restricted access.

In his 2009 autobiography Born To Score, he wrote: "From the moment I set eyes on the little fella, I have loved my son like I could never ever have imagined possible.

"I am not going to hear any more that I did not care for Harvey, or have any understanding of his needs or that I was not interested in his welfare."

He added: "Over the years I have heard Katie saying how Andre is Harvey's dad and what a terrible, uncaring father I have been, all of which sticks in my throat.

"Maybe if she had not made life so difficult for me, might have been able to take a far more proactive role."
