Kate's hidden message behind 'gorgeous' fashion choice revealed by royal expert

Before the UK was plunged into lockdown, Kate and Prince William reportedly visited an NHS centre in south London to show their support for frontline workers. Although the visit itself was praised, the Duchess of Cambridge's outfit also caught the eye of onlookers. Royal commentator Angela Mollard revealed to the ROYALS podcast why Kate's fashion choice was so important and the message it was sending out.

She told listeners: "William and Kate visited the ambulance service with the NHS.

"I love the fact that Kate was wearing a pink Marks and Spencer suit.

"It was absolutely gorgeous, but I love the fact it wasn't designer.

"It just said 'I am one of you'."

Ms Mollard continued: "She can afford to wear anything she likes but I love the fact that it was normal.

"A Marks and Spencer suit is what women in London really wear to work.

"She was effectively doing that."

Due to the coronavirus lockdown in the UK, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their family have now moved to their residence in Norfolk.

Ms Mollard said: "I think we'll hear from them more sparingly.

"They will not want to bombard but I think when they do say something, it will be at times it's much needed by the public.

"The Royal Family is very much seen as an institution which delivers stability to the public."

The royal commentator added: "While members of the public may be divided on how they should be funded and what role they should play, they're certainly up there as a steadying influence in the UK.

"They're the ones that make everybody feel content and safe.

"With the Queen obviously at Windsor and Charles up in Scotland, I think William is very much stepping up to take the reins.

"He was the first of them to speak about coronavirus, and to instruct on what to do.

"And others like Meghan and Harry and Charles and Camilla have followed."
