Kate Garraway’s husband Derek Draper fell ill with Covid-19 in March 2020 and suffered a lengthy battle with the virus that only saw him released from the hospital earlier this year.
He now requires care at home as he still recovered from the side effects of the illness.
At the ceremony, grateful Kate responded to Davina: “He’s had a good day today, we did some exercises together before I came out.
“A day at a time, but today’s a good day. Thank you for asking, that’s really kind of you.”
Kate is one of the panel who voted in the Who Cares Wins awards, with Best Nurse being one of many categories.
As she presented the award, Kate noted: “I’m here to talk about nurses.
"I mean, where do you begin, there is absolutely no doubt that everything nurses do every day is utterly breath-taking.
"But sometimes it’s the little moments of thoughtfulness that make all the difference and it’s one of those that’s lead to tonight’s recipient being nominated.”
The winners were unveiled in the show which aired at 7.30pm on Sunday on Channel 4.
Kate reunited with old colleague and friend Piers Morgan at the ceremony and they shared a hug.
Among the famous faces in attendance at the ceremony were Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Prince William, Duke of Cambridge.
Other famous faces to look out for include football legend David Beckham, rock star Sir Rod Stewart and wife Penny Lancaster, football favourite Gary Lineker, The Saturdays singer and Loose Women panellist Frankie Bridge, television presenter Steph McGovern and Olympic athlete Kadeena Cox.
