My heart goes out to those clubs across Merseyside who have been impacted by the decision to "expunge" non-league steps three to six last week.
For whatever reason, that decision has been taken and that just sounds a bit strange for me. I don't know what is behind the call but I have played in some of those leagues and while I can't comment too much on it, I think they should have tried to find a way to finish it across the board - in the same way they are doing with the Premier League.
I've read some of the non-league clubs are threatening legal action and I can see their point. I think they have a case, big time.
It shouldn't be started from a level playing field when it resumes. Some clubs have been robbed of all the hard work they have done.
These are the clubs that dream of getting into the football league and they have had their hard work taken away, months of it. It must be devastating for them.
Look, we all know the most important thing is the health of the nation and that goes without saying, but some of these clubs, they are the lifeblood of their communities.
It was a massive decision and a tough one. But it would be a travesty if they all started from square one next season.
I don't know the complications behind that but with the big boys, there is simply too much money washing around to do the same. You cannot start the new season without finishing this one and I have said the same thing before in this column.
It is impossible to just scrap it and start a fresh. Rio Ferdinand was one of the first ones to suggest it and now even Harry Kane has come out and said it too.
The England captain believes it should be knocked on the head if the league isn't finished by June. Just what has the end of June got to do with it? Why that particular date?
Why not the end of July? Or August? Or September? We're just seeing people having their own agenda and looking after their own best interests. People have their own ideas and I get it, but it needs finishing.
We've all got our opinion, of course and that is Harry's but he's obviously thinking that the season starts again on August 10. That is not set in stone. I wish people would stop assuming that absolutely has to be the date the new season starts.
They can start it any date they want, it makes no difference. It is not about next season, it is all about this one. Is Kane thinking that it would be an easier route back into the Champions League for Spurs if the season was voided? Maybe.
August 10 does not have to be the date. It can be changed. September 10, October 10...it does not matter. Whenever the next season can go ahead, that is when it should. But this one needs sorting out first when it is safe.
If it is a World Cup-style format, as has been reported this week, then so be it. It does not matter as long as all the clubs and the authorities can agree.
Liverpool are just lucky that they have already 'won' the league if you like. They have a 25-point lead and won't be caught in the final nine or 10 games.
OK, it is not technically won, but they won't be pegged back by Manchester City. Liverpool's lead has put more pressure on the authorities because I think they now have to look at it and ensure it is won, whatever happens.
With the relegation, there is too much at stake too. Whatever the format, let's get this season done whenever it is.
