Juan Mata has revealed he is helping Edinson Cavani settle in at Manchester United — by teaching him the language and advising him about the weather.

Cavani joined United on deadline day having been a free agent following his release from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer. The Uruguayan bagged his first goal for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side in their 3-1 win at Everton before the international break.

And Mata has admitted he's delighted to be playing alongside Cavani, having admired the striker throughout his career. The Spaniard is helping Cavani become settled in Manchester.

"Well, I’m very happy Edinson has come here because he is a very professional player, a very committed team-mate and very driven, during all his career," Mata told United Review.

"Also, Edinson is very humble, of course, and he is a guy who likes the countryside. I think he’s settled now in his house in the countryside, which he is happy about.

"Of course, I told him that it is important to have a couple of umbrellas, not only one, in Manchester so I am sure he’s got a few! He is loving where he lives and his family is also happy.“

Mata also confirmed he is helping fellow Spanish-speaker Cavani get over the language barrier in United training.

Manchester United ground out a 1-0 win over West Brom to finally notch a victory at home in the Premier League this season.

It wasn't pretty but it means two successive wins for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side, who have to balance league and Champions League commitments over a busy period in the coming weeeks.

“Yeah, I try," he said. "Of course, he is getting used to the English language so I am trying to translate for him.

“There are a few of us that can do it and I am happy to do so.

“Hopefully he’ll keep scoring, like he did against Everton. Everyone knows his qualities so I’m not going to only discover now where Edinson Cavani is in the football world.”
