I'm A Celebrity runner-up Jordan North has revealed that he threatened to quit the show after suffering a panic attack behind the scenes.

The Radio 1 DJ has said that he was only able to deal with the situation after speaking to host Declan Donnelly.

Jordan narrowly missed out on winning the ITV show as Giovanna Fletcher was crowned the very first Queen of the Castle.

During his time on the programme, Jordan was forced to face his fears numerous times and was left incredibly shaken by the experience.

A particularly difficult challenge saw him lie in an underground container that was filled with snakes as he chanted out the name of his 'happy place'.

And while fans may have found his reaction amusing, behind the scenes Jordan said that he was desperate to leave Gwrych Castle.

Speaking to The Sun, he said: "I've not talked about this to anyone, I just had a complete meltdown. And I know what people mean now by sheer panic.

He explained that Dec helped him out of the panic attack

“I just said, ‘I can’t do this. And I’m not going to do this. And in fact, I am gonna go. I don’t need to do this’. And I nearly said, not just I’m not going to do the trial.

“I weren’t going to do the trial. If this is the first trial, and I thought there’s no way I can get through this. I nearly walked.”

Jordan continued, explaining that he had never had a panic attack before but believed that had been what he was suffering from.

Jordan said that having Shane there helped him

The DJ said that there had been tears and that he'd been struggling to breathe.

Explaining that Dec had told him to breathe, and that the panic began to leave.

Due to the Covid-19 rules, Ant and Dec had to remain two meters apart at all times, but Jordan said that he believed that they wanted to put an arm around his shoulders.

Jordan also said that he wasn't faking it, questioning how someone could fake being sick.

He said: "I've heard a couple people saying was he playing up to it? Was he faking it? I mean, how can you fake being sick? I, and if you see me in that Viper one, I was physically shaking beforehand. You could see me sweating. I was that scared."
