Liverpool club captain Jordan Henderson has provided his initial reaction to helping lead the Reds' to 2019 FIFA Club World Cup glory.

Jurgen Klopp's men were controlled for the most part in a tough encounter at the Khalifa International Stadium in Qatar.

Both sides had 33 shots combined but just nine of them were on target, six for Liverpool and three for Flamengo.

It wasn't until late on that it looked like Liverpool might just steal the game when Sadio Mane was brought down and a penalty was awarded, only for the decision to be overturned after the VAR monitor was consulted.

But Liverpool showed plenty of grit and determination to recover from the blow and edge home in extra time.

It was Henderson who provided the assist for Roberto Firmino to steal the show with the winner but it was the latter who was interviewed shortly after the final whistle.

During his brief chat with the BBC, Henderson showed exactly what the Reds are about by using that one word all fans have become used to talking about so much under Klopp - mentality.

Henderson told BBC Sport: "Very good. It was an interesting game. I'm sure it was interesting to watch. Our mentality shone through.
