Join race for place in virtual marathon for Wirral hospitals

WIRRAL University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is giving our readers the chance to enter the race for a place in this year's Virgin Money Virtual London Marathon.

The trust's charity has been allocated 25 entries for this iconic event, taking place on October 3 and is inviting you to enter.

For a chance to get your hands on one of these sought-after entries, for the world's best known marathon and raise vital funds for your local hospitals' charity contact Jo Roberts [email protected] or call 0151 482 778 by Monday May 10.

The draw for places will take place that week and if you are successful you will be notified soon after.

All runners will receive a WUTH Charity T-shirt/running vest, fundraising pack and one to one support in setting up your fundraising page to help you raise as much as you can to support Arrowe Park and Clatterbridge Hospitals.

Runners who complete their challenge in under 24 hours will receive their very own official finisher medal and T-shirt.

Last year Sally Taylor, an occupational therapist at the Trust, was set to run the London Marathon.

Keen runner Sally, swapped the streets of London for the roads near her Wirral home. She also added an extra 22 miles and raised £1,200 for the Trust charity’s COVID-19 appeal.

John Harris, another fundraiser, was also due to run the London Marathon, but instead ran 1210 laps of his back garden - the same distance as a marathon.

John's Wirral Garden Marathon took him 4 hours and 21 minutes to complete and raised more than £9,500 for the appeal.

Jo Roberts, a community and events fundraiser for WUTH Charity, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity to support Arrowe Park and Clatterbridge Hospitals and help raise funds to make a real difference to patient experience and care.

"I took part last year in this event and loved every minute of it.

"I'm not a runner but like to complete a personal challenge each year and thought this was perfect.

"I was able to walk parts of the Wirral coastline I had never been to before, raise money to support my local hospital and get a big shiny medal at the end of it.

"I would definitely recommend the virtual London Marathon to everyone."
