Bayern Munich and Valencia reportedly want to sign Joao Cancelo in January, just five months after the defender joined Manchester City.
Cancelo, 25, scored his first City goal against Oxford this week in the Carabao Cup, and has made 15 appearances since joining from Juventus in August. He has had to compete with Kyle Walker at right back as the pair battle to be first choice under Pep Guardiola.
But despite the defender showing signs of improvement as he adapts to his new surroundings, reports in Spain have now emerged claiming Valencia are exploring the possibility of loaning Cancelo in January.
Mundo Deportivo (via Calciomercato) say the defender is a target for the Champions League last-16 side, with his agent Jorge Mendes said to be in discussions with Valencia owner Peter Lim.
The outlet add a deal would be 'difficult', but that Cancelo is open to a move.
It’s unlikely City would let him go so soon, but there is also reported interest from Germany as Bild suggest Bayern Munich are also interested in Cancelo in January.
That is despite having Benjamin Pavard and Joshua Kimmich available in that area, but Bayern apparently want to deploy the pair elsewhere in the starting XI.
Bild also report that City winger Leroy Sane is pushing to join Bayern in January, but this is causing problems over in Germany.
According to SportWitness, the report says Bayern would be spending around €100m on Sane, but they also want to spend a similar amount of Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz.
Plus if they want to sign Philippe Coutinho permanently in the summer he would cost €120m, and they don’t have enough transfer funds to buy all three players.
Sane is said to be ‘persistently’ turning down the offer of a new contract at City, and they may opt to cash in sooner rather than later to maximise his transfer value.
Finally, City could move for Havertz themselves - especially if Sane joins Bayern - according to another Bild report.
City and rivals Manchester United have held ‘concrete talks’ with Havertz, according to the publication, with Barcelona and Real Madrid also said to be interested in the 20-year-old.
Leverkusen have reportedly put a €130m price tag on Havertz, who has impressed in the Bundesliga this season.
