As the business end of the season draws closer, attention will gradually start focusing on how Liverpool will begin to rebuild from a disappointing Premier League title defence.
There will be inevitable calls for Jurgen Klopp to dip into the transfer market to strengthen his squad, and over the next few weeks and months there will be a host of names that are supposedly on their shortlist.
Here, we take a look at some of the latest rumours and assess whether or not they are likely to happen or not.
Jachin Correa, Lazio forward.
According to reports in Italy, Liverpool are admirers of Correa and could make a move to sign him this summer.
As claimed by Il Messaggero, via Inside Futbol , the Reds could be able to sign Correa for half of his 80m euro release clause, due to Lazio wanting to cash in on the player’s services to boost their bank balance.
It has also been claimed that Correa was nearly sold to Juventus last summer, but the deal was called off due to Lazio not being able to find a replacement.
This is an interesting rumour, and one that certainly deserves further inspection.
Liverpool would be wise to try and sign a forward this summer, and we all know Jurgen Klopp likes a player who can play in a number of positions.
Correa fits both of those descriptions, but it’s whether or not Liverpool would be willing to spend around 40m euros (£34m) to bring him to Anfield.
We’ll have to wait and see.
Ousmane Dembele, Barcelona forward.
According to Fijaches.net, via Sport Witness , Liverpool are planning to ‘break the bank’ to sign a replacement for Sadio Mane.
The report goes on to state that the Reds see Dembele as a suitable candidate for that description, and want to take advantage of the player’s contract situation at the Nou Camp.
Dembele is contract at Barca until 2022, but there has been no sign of talks over an extension at this stage.
It seems like we see Dembele linked with a move to Anfield in every transfer window.
Whether any of the rumours linking him this time are true remains to be seen, but you do have to wonder if there is some truth given he;s a player whose name just won’t go away.
Is he right for Liverpool? Who knows, but if the rumours are true and Klopp thinks so then who is anyone to argue otherwise.
Marko Grujic, Liverpool midfielder.
According to reports, Liverpool are considering selling Grujic on a permanent deal this summer.
Grujic is currently on loan at Porto, and has spent the bulk of his time contracted with the Reds away from Merseyside on temporary deals.
As claimed by Portuguese outlet Record, via Sport Witness , Porto would like to keep Grujic beyond his loan deal when it runs out in the summer.
It is said that Liverpool would only sell Grujic if a club met their 23m euro valuation.
There was so much hope and expectation when Grujic was unveiled as Klopp’s first official signing at Liverpool in January 2016.
Since then, he has barely featured for the club but has impressed while being sent out on loan in each of the past four seasons.
You do have to wonder if next season is not going to be his chance to feature for the club, perhaps that opportunity will never come and the ECHO understands a decision will be made over his future this summer.
