Jeopardy! champion Ken Jennings says Grammy nomination should have gone to Alex Trebek

Jeopardy! champion Ken Jennings says his recent Grammy nomination should have gone to the show’s late host Alex Trebek.

Jennings is up for Best Spoken Word Album at the 2021 Grammys. That nomination was announced on Tuesday during a remote event.

Trebek and Jennings are both credited as narrators on the audiobook version of Trebek’s memoir The Answer Is...: Reflections on My Life, which came out in July this year.

Jennings shared a screenshot of the Grammy announcement including his nomination on his Twitter account, writing: “Wait, what??”

In a follow-up message, he added: “This should 100% be Alex's Grammy nomination.  He wrote the book and reads much of the audiobook! Who do I speak to about this”

Trebek died on 8 November this year at 80 years old. In March 2019, he had announced that he had been diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer.

In the months that followed, Trebek candidly updated viewers and fans about his health and his experience receiving treatment.

Jennings has been announced as the first interim host tapped to host Jeopardy! when the game show resumes production at the end of the month. A permanent new host has yet to be announced.
