Comedian Jason Manford has hit out after burglars broke into a storage unit outside his home.

The Salford-born comic warned residents to 'stay vigilant' after a number of items were stolen from the unit last night.

He mentioned the incident in posts on both Facebook and Twitter, calling the thieves 'absolutely awful people'.

In the post, he said: "Well it seems burglars haven't been f****** furloughed.

"Some absolutely awful people out there. Stay Vigilant folks."

Jason Manford posted on Facebook after the break-in outside his home.

In a statement, Neil Reading, Mr Manford’s publicist, confirmed that there had been a break-in outside the star's home.

He said: "A storage unit outside Jason’s property was broken into during the night and a number of items were stolen."

Earlier this year, a church run by Mr Manford's uncle was also targeted by thieves.

The heartless burglars raided Cadishead Community Church in May, taking everything from expensive music equipment and guitars to their store of toilet roll.

They even made off with a Bible and sweets meant for children's groups at the church.

Anyone with information on burglaries can pass it on to police on 101.
