Ivanka Trump and Melania rift rumours EXPLODE ahead of White House exit

Ivanka Trump discusses being 'competitive' like her father in 2014

Donald Trump’s eldest daughter, Ivanka, and the First Lady have been at the centre of speculations regarding a potential feud. Rumours intensified ahead of the end of Mr Trump’s presidency this week, with sources blaming a power struggle as the reason for the deteriorated relationship.

According to an extract from The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump by Mary Jordan, the First Lady would call Ivanka “The Princess,” while Ivanka nicknamed Melania “The Portrait”.

Ms Jordan wrote: "Melania has been heard calling Ivanka 'The Princess' out of earshot.

"When she was younger, Ivanka privately called Melania 'The Portrait,' telling classmates that her father's girlfriend spoke as much as a painting on the wall."

Asked by CNN's Alisyn Camerota whether the pair have “as frosty of a relationship as has been reported,” Ms Jordan replied: "Yes, by all accounts.”

According to the author, the purported feud has led to division in the executive residence as staff picked a side.

Ms Jordan added: “I spoke to many people inside the White House and particularly at tense times there has been 'Team Melania' and 'Team Ivanka'. There's a lot of tension there.

"When Ivanka came to the White House she really loved it immediately, Melania was up in New York.

"Ivanka said all of a sudden, 'I think we should rename the First Lady's office to the First Family office' and of course Melania put her foot down and said, 'No way’.”

“It was tradition, and she was not going to let her stepdaughter change it.”

According to a CNN report, when President Trump was elected four years ago, the pair “both were aware and respectful of one another’s turf”.

However, that has seemingly changed over the years as now there is little desire by either to even be in the same room, a source told the news outlet.

The reports came as the Trumps prepare to leave the White House at 8am on Wednesday ahead of Joe Biden's inauguration as US President.

The outgoing President will leave the executive residence on Air Force One after a farewell ceremony ending his presidency.

The potential event will take place at Joint Base Andrews, in Maryland, with invitations asking guests to arrive at the location between 6am and 7.15am.

Guests may bring up to five other people with them, but everyone has been requested to wear face coverings, Bloomberg reported.
