The Army's bomb disposal unit were called to an unexploded device found in Skirlington, near Driffield, earlier today.
The device was discovered shortly after 11am and reported to Hornsea Coastguard.
The Coastguard contacted 11 Explosive Ordnance Disposal Regiment - the nearest squadron is based at Catterick Garrison in North Yorkshire.

The squadron removed the unexploded device and safely disposed of it.
The Coastguard later issued advice for anyone else who finds suspicious devices to call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
