Ennerdale Leisure Centre is ready to reopen to the public after receiving a £1.7 million makeover.

The leisure centre will reopen next week following a refurbishment, after it closed its doors last summer.

Doors will open at 9am on Tuesday and visitors will be greeted with a new "modern" reception and café entrance, updated changing facilities and inclusion of new dedicated disabled changing facilities.

The centre also now benefits from new gym and studio equipment, funded by Hull Culture and Leisure.

A large proportion of the refurbishment has seen an overhaul of all of the centre’s electrical and mechanical services with upgrades of the filtration, ventilation and cold water systems, meaning the centre will now run much more efficiently.

Councillor Dave Craker, portfolio holder for leisure and culture, said: “The investment into this key city facility is a commitment from the council into enhancing the city’s leisure offer.

“It now provides an enhanced experience for users which I’m sure will prove to be more popular than ever before.

“We will continue to invest with refurbishments planned for both Beverley Road and Albert Avenue Baths.”

Councillor Marjorie Brabazon, chair of Hull Culture and Leisure, said: “We‘re delighted to have a new and improved Ennerdale back with us and our staff are really excited to welcome members and visitors back.

“It’s great to see the council spending money on leisure and HCAL were keen to mirror this by investing in new gym and studio equipment.”

Work to the sauna is still ongoing, and will be available for public use next month.

New fitness memberships are now on sale now.
