Meghan Markle is reportedly looking to grow a relationship with Hollywood star Angelina Jolie.

The world was shocked earlier this year as Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and husband Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, announced their intention to step down from their roles as senior royals and their public duties.

Following an initial move to Canada after tying up their last duties for the Queen, they are now said to be residing in California.

Now reports suggest that former Suits star Meghan is looking to expand on her role as a narrator on Disney documentary Elephant with a big Hollywood connection in Oscar-winning actress and activist, Angelina Jolie.

According to the Australian news outlet New Idea, Meghan has long admired the humanitarian and award-winning actress, 44.

A source claimed to the publication: "It’s an open secret Meghan’s aspired to be like Ange for many years, just like she’s so in awe of Princess Diana.

"Meghan has so much respect for Ange and everything she’s achieved on a personal level as well as professionally."

They added: "Her work for good causes and the UN speaks for itself, but Meghan marvels at how Angelina’s managed to balance this with a thriving box office career and raising six kids."

However, the admiration isn't just going one way, as Angelina is also reported to be keen on cultivating a relationship with the Duchess.

The source also commented: "Angie has long hoped for a friend she can relate to in Los Angeles, and Meghan represents the best option by a long way."

The pair are said to have met on several occasions, with Meghan and Angelina having an "intellectual connection".

Angelina herself has recently starred in a Disney film, appearing as anti-heroine Maleficent in last year's live-action sequel film, subtitled Mistress of Evil.

She has been self-isolating with her children whilst weathering out the coronavirus pandemic, with 18-year-old son Maddox returning from South Korea to be with his family.

She told DongA Daily : "I could not be happier about Mad’s choice of university. It is of course closed at the moment because of the pandemic."
