Hull FC like other clubs will need a minor miracle to make the top-four play-offs after defeat last time out against Salford.
It’s a very difficult time for everyone in rugby league with restrictions because of Covid-19, the lack of practice for players stood down as a precaution, those stood down on track and trace – it cannot be easy to plan sessions or even pick a team for any given game.
But what is indefensible is some of the blatant lack of skill that players who are known to be picking up big salaries are displaying week in, week out.
I’m now sat at Hull FC games believing that individual players when they get the ball are more likely to make an error as opposed to be positive with their action.
Errors coming out of yardage, Fonua and Faraimo the main culprits. I just expect an error in the tackle or playing the ball. It must be driving Andy Last mad!! It must be driving the fans mad. It drives me mad.
I love Jake Connor, he’s dynamite. He’s also average at best with some of his decisions and with some of his plays. Some of his skill is just not acceptable - passes to the floor, basic passes.
Then he picks a ball up off his toes and fires a 15-metre pass on the money. It drives me mad. Kicks out on the full at crucial times when the game is in the balance, kicks with time on his side are kicked poorly, yet a poor pass to him can be picked up and kicked perfectly and I wonder how he has done that!!! It again drives me mad so I can only imagine how Andy Last feels again.
Where’s the consistency in performances within a game, let alone week to week, at Hull FC?
Where’s the Carlos Tuimavave consistency in this group? A player whose performances are on a consistent level in games and weekly.

And there’s others whose performances are letting down the team, with ill-discipline, with lack of care, lack of attention to skill and detail.
On paper (what a phrase that is in rugby league) Hull FC match anyone, but playing the game to a minimum standard is organisation driven, player driven. I’m sure we all agree that level is way too low for Hull FC given the quality in the team on a game day.
Whatever the reasons, whatever the excuses there’s so much to play for, play well for when pulling on the black and white shirt, so I’d like to see as I’m sure would Andy Last, his coaching staff, owner Adam Pearson, the fans, the real players, the proper players stand up and show in performance just what you’re all about.
