DEAR DEIDRE: I HAVE been living on friends’ sofas for the past eight months and I’m running out of options.
I normally work in hospitality but since the first lockdown, my sector has been massacred.

My team and I are working safely from home but we are here to help you as always.
I am 28 and when I lost my job last May, my girlfriend kicked me out.
Since then I’ve picked up temporary work here and there but nothing stable.
My earnings go towards my keep wherever I am staying.
For the past three months I have been living with my best friend but he is expecting a baby with his girlfriend so they don’t want me in their tiny flat any longer.
I am terrified I’m going to end up on the streets in the middle of winter.
I’ve been told housing won’t help because I am a single man.
DEIDRE SAYS: What a worrying time for you.
It will be worth going back to your council.
If you are at risk of sleeping outside or are in a shelter where you can’t self-isolate, your local council might help you now, even if you wouldn’t usually be entitled to it.
I would also urge you to get in touch with Shelter which offers free housing advice (shelter.org.uk or call 0808 800 4444).
