After testing 5 common methods, one homeowner found the best way to clean hardwood floors.
From natural remedies to expensive tools, cleaning expert Ashley Abramson experimented with sprays and her DIY techniques until beautiful oak floors were spotless.
One of Abramson's least favorite methods of cleaning wood floors was, surprisingly, vinegar with a microfiber mop.
"Good old vinegar has long been touted for its cleaning power," said the homeowner.
"One of the most effective and least expensive ways to remove grease, lift stains, and remove scale."
With this in mind. Set aside, Abramson added half a cup of white distilled vinegar to a gallon of lukewarm water in a bucket.
Then I sprayed it on a microfiber mop and mopped the floor, but I was not happy with the results.
"Frankly, this was my least favorite method," Abramson told The Kitchen.
"I had to re-spray the microfiber multiple times to get rid of the caked-on dirt. I ended up spraying it directly onto the floor for simplicity.
"
Another less than ideal method Abramson tried was Castile soap and essential oils.

"But this method was more work than the others.
The owner of this home says that the iconic Murphy's Oil Soap works very well."
Although the floor was thoroughly cleaned, the cleaning process was rather cumbersome.
" When I dipped the microfiber mop into the solution, it became a little more difficult to control the amount of liquid used on the floor," she said.
"It took longer to spread the cleaner onto the floor compared to other methods."
Abramson's second favorite cleaning product is Method Squirt+. Mopwood Floor Cleaner and was "Very Satisfied".
``I love how easy it is to spray the mixture onto the floor.
"My only criticism is that while the cleaner left the floor shiny and removed the layer of surface dirt, it wasn't very powerful at wiping away the sticky gunk." 43}
And finally, Abramson's favorite way to clean floors is the Swiffer WetJet Hardwood Floor Cleaner.
The ease of using a thin mop instead of arranging a rug around a giant bucket of water was a clear winner for cleaning professionals.
} "I love that the mop doesn't have to be sprayed with anything or soaked in any solution," said Abramson.
"Instead, I just pushed a button and wiped. The battery-powered mop released just the right amount of cleaning fluid to get the job done and left the floors scrubbed clean."
