I’m A Celebrity 2020 WILL go ahead despite Wales lockdown, insists site of new celeb camp

I'M A Celebrity 2020 will go ahead despite Wales being plunged into a 'fire break' national lockdown.

The series, which has been relocated to Gwrych Castle, appeared to be hanging in the balance as Wales toughened its response to the growing surge in coronavirus cases.

First Minister Mark Drakeford yesterday announced that from Friday people in Wales will be forced told to stay at home until November 9.

But the official Twitter account for the historic castle has reassured fans that the series will happen.

It wrote: "Following the announcement today from the First Minister, the overriding message is that filming CAN continue in Wales providing related activity cannot be undertaken from home, and there is full compliance with Welsh law. We cannot wait to see I’m A Celebrity on our screens!"

It was met with much joy from fans of the ITV show, with one cheering: "Thank goodness for that! I’m sure @ITV will take all precautions they can. Come on we need something to keep us going through the long dark nights ahead!"

Another posted: "Thank god for that! Best news we’ve heard all day!"

However, one follower objected strongly and urged the First Minister to intervene.

The castle remained steadfast, responding: "This is not the only filming taking place in Wales. The decision taken by Wales Government covers all filming. Creative Wales made an industry statement on the matter today."

The lockdown will fall over the half-term holiday and extend for a week beyond that.

Primary schools will reopen as normal after the break and kids in secondary school in Year 7 and 8 will be able to go to school.

All other students will have to go back to home learning.

Mr Drakeford stressed that children were the "top priority" and childcare centres would be able to stay open throughout.

It means people in Wales will have to:

The First Minister said the fire break was the "shortest" it could be, but the narrow time frame means it will have to be "sharp and deep" to cull new infection rates.
