Christoph Baumgartner has revealed he is aware of transfer rumours amid speculation linking him with a switch from Hoffenheim to Liverpool.

Baumgartner is one of many players to have been linked with the Reds following the departure of Georginio Wijnaldum to Paris Saint-Germain.

The 21-year-old spent the formative years of his career with the academies of SV Horn and AKA St. Poulten in Austria before signing for the German side back in 2017.

Having spent the first couple of years with the Under-19s and the reserves, the midfielder has become a regular in his side’s first-team over the last couple of seasons.

Baumgartner is currently on Euro 2020 duty with Austria, who won their first group game against North Macedonia before losing to the Netherlands on Thursday.

“In this tournament there is not much time to think about rumours like that,” he said about the latest transfer links, via Tribal Football.

“In my career I have already learned that they always link you to other clubs.

“I don’t want to deny that I like hearing some of that, but at the moment that’s not a topic at all for me and I focus on the tournament.

“It’s part of the job to deal with those kind of rumours; I already have experience with that.

"It’s better to have those rumours than rumours in other areas.”

Liverpool have already taken a look at Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus amid speculation over a possible transfer move.

The ECHO understands that the Reds are monitoring Neuhaus, but are not necessarily prioritising adding players to their midfield this summer at this stage.
