Angus MacDonald has paid an emotional tribute to family, friends and football supporters for their incredible support during his battle with cancer.
MacDonald returned to Hull City's training ground today after being given the all-clear following treatment for bowel cancer.
Diagnosed with the early stages in September, the defender has undergone two operations and following a period of uncertainty in which he relied heavily on those around him, MacDonald has now got the news everyone was hoping for.
Writing on his Instagram page, the 27-year-old described the hardest few months of his life and how thankful he is for the suipport he received throughout his treatment.
MacDonald wrote: "It was great to be back in the training ground today with the boys, and for very good reason. I’ve been given the best news I’ve ever had... I am Cancer free!
"It’s been the hardest few months of my life and at times you go to some dark places, but I’ve been lucky enough to have some great people around me to keep me positive and focused on getting better.
"I want to thank everyone for the thousands of kind messages I’ve received, and support I have had.
"I especially want to thank my Mum and Dad, My Sisters, Andrew the physio, Rick my agent and my partner Alexandra who have all been with me every single step of the way, and without you all I don’t know how I would of got through this.
"The comeback is on! ❤ Goose #F**kYouCancer"
The defender, who has not played for City since August 2018 after previously suffering from deep vein thrombosis, will now begin the slow process of returning to full training and trying to force his way into Grant McCann's team before the end of the season.
