Racing's first big meeting of the Flat season has arrived.

The Qipco 2,000 and 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket are the opening Classic races, a stirring conclusion to a notable week for the sport.

On Monday, meetings returned after a 76-day absence and the past few days have brought a feast of races for fans to mull over.

With Royal Ascot clues aplenty, on Friday it's the turn of the stayers and Group One action in the Hurworth Bloodstock Coronation Cup (3.35).

Defoe is the selection of Mirror Racing tipster Newsboy, while over at Lingfield they're breaking from the stalls for the Derby and Oaks trials, live on ITV.

Frankel won the 2011 Qipco 2000 Guineas Stakes at Newmarket

The tip in the former, a Listed contest sponsored by Betsafe, is the Charlie Fellowes-trained King Carney.
