Justin Gaethje steps up to take on lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 254 tonight.

The American is bidding to upset the odds and inflict a first defeat on the Russian who is one of the best to ever do it.

Gaethje grabbed his chance of a title shot with both hands when he stunned Tony Ferguson earlier this year with a scintillating display.

Nurmagomedov returns to the cage for the first time since he submitted Dustin Poirier in the same venue over a year ago.

UFC 254 also offers an intriguing co-main event as Robert Whittaker takes on Jared Cannonier for the right to face middleweight champion Israel Adesanya.

Here is everything you need to know about how to watch the fights tonight...

How to watch the fights on TV

The fights will be shown on BT Sport in the UK and the broadcaster has opted to show the main card on their Box Office channel.

That means fans will have to stump up £19.95 to watch the best fights of the night, including Khabib vs Gaethje.

You can do just that by visiting the BT Sport Box Office website here.

Before that however, the prelim fights will be shown on BT Sport 2 and therefore free for BT Sport customers.

The early prelim fights, of which there are just two, will be shown on the UFC's Fight Pass subscription service which you can sign up to by clicking here.

How to stream the fights

The fights will only be available to stream in the UK using the BT Sport player for the prelim fights and then via BT Sport Box Office for the main card.

The UFC have made a determined effort to crack down on illegal live streams.

Kieron Sharp, CEO of the UK's leading intellectual property protection organisation FACT, has said: "Whether it’s watching a live stream on social media, using a piracy site, or a box or stick connected to your TV, watching it any way other than through the official provider is illegal.

"People need to be aware that this is no longer a grey area, in fact it is very black and white. If you are accessing content for free such as sport, TV and films for which you'd normally need a subscription, this is illegal

"FACT is leading the way in combating digital piracy and working with PIPCU and industry bodies to crackdown on illegal streaming and to hold those behind them accountable for their actions.

"It is getting harder to watch live sport illegally and fans should be aware that if they are planning to watch the fight this way they are breaking the law."

What time do the fights start?

UK fight fans can rejoice at the news that the fights will start at 4pm today rather than the usual 11pm start as has been the norm on Fight Island.

The prelim fights will then take place from 5pm before the stacked main card kicks off at 7pm. That means the main event between Khabib and Gaethje is expected to begin at around 10pm UK time.

Odds

Khabib is the odds-on favourite to defeat Gaethje and retain his lightweight world title tonight.

There is little value in the 2/7 on offer while fans who are backing the upset can back Gaethje at 11/4.

Perhaps a better bet is on the method of victory with Khabib 4/5 to win inside the distance and Gaetje 9/2 to stop the champion.
