On the Los Angeles Sheriff Office website, the arrest report lists Lanez’s height as 5-foot, 3-inches.

It puts his weight at 120 pounds.

The report, which was made after Tory Lanez was arrested in Hollywood and released after posting a $35,000 bond, also lists Lanez' real name Daystar Shemuel Shua Peterson.

His stage name - Tory - is a reference to the late rapper Notorious B.I.G., who has been a huge influence on Lanez.

Lanez was born in Ontario, Canada.

His father, Sonstar, is Bajan and his mother Luella was from Curaçao.

Lanez' mother died when he was only 11 years old, from a rare disease.

His father then became a missionary and his work involved travelling through US cities.

As a result, Lanez lived in Atlanta, New York and Miami as a child, before setting in Toronto to live with his grandmother as a teenager. 

Lanez has said that growing up in Canada is a major influence on his music. He said:

“In Canada, you grow up listening to so much different music that when it’s time to make your own, you subconsciously take what you’ve heard growing up and it goes into your own sound.

"I think that’s what makes music coming from Canadian artists stand out.”
