Horse racing tips: Templegate reckons top chaser Politologue can strike at Ascot plus best bets on Saturday

TEMPLEGATE has been in good form this week and has some confident bets lined up on a busy Saturday.

POLITOLOGUE (3.35 Ascot, nap)

Paul Nicholls’ admirable chaser pulled off a slight surprise when beating hotpot Defi Du Seuil in the Champion Chase last March but showed that was no fluke when taking the Tingle Creek at Sandown by an impressive seven lengths.

He goes on soft ground and loves this trip. He has winning form at Ascot, which doesn’t suit all horses, and it will take a big effort to stop him.

YALA ENKI (2.10 Taunton, nb)

He won this slog last year and can follow up under Bryony Frost. She was on board in the Welsh National last time where Paul Nicholls’ stayer hit the places for the third year running.

He likes to keep things simple from the front and would be giving weight away all round if this was a handicap. He came here after Chepstow 12 months ago so the shortish gap between races shouldn’t be a problem.

ROKSANA (1.15 Ascot, treble)

She ran a cracker when third in the Grade 1 Long Walk Hurdle here last month.

She was right in the mix with Paisley Park and Thyme Hill until the dying yards. Testing ground is ideal and the opposition looks a lot softer today.

Two good wins last time and form of last run working out well.

Taking a drop in class after running at Cheltenham last time.

Capable of much better than we saw on debut latest.

Classy stayer on the Flat and should make a good hurdler.

Close third in Long Walk Hurdle latest and down in grade.

Hardly put a foot wrong over hurdles and can go close again.

Had 13 lengths in hand when scoring at Catterick last time out.

Won well on last run over this course and distance.

Improving with age and can land another Grade 1 success.
