Curtis Pritchard has made his soap debut but it has left a lot of viewers questioning as to why he was there at all.

The 24-year-old former Love Island star has joined his brother, former Strictly star AJ Pritchard, on Hollyoaks and made his soap debut on Thursday.

The character Curtis is playing is the twin brother to AJ's character, Marco.

He has been described as "sly, cheeky and confident" but it is fair to say that his appearance left a lot of viewers scratching their heads.

Curtis is not known for his acting abilities and it would seem that fans of the Channel 4 soap were unimpressed with his efforts that left many "confused" while other said his acting was "cringeworthy".

Another added: "Eww why is Curtis on the show #hollyoaks "

One fan wrote: "Lmao Curtis and AJ acting is awful. I'm cringing so bad #Hollyoaks "

Another suggested: "AJ and Curtis must have been Pinocchio in a past life - because their acting are as wooden as a marionette! #Hollyoaks "

A third added: "Omg Curtis is just as awkward as AJ"

The reason why Curtis was there at all was enough to confuse some fans of the show, with the feeling summed up by one viewer, who tweeted: "5 mins later and I’m still confused as to why Curtis from Love Island is part of the hollyoaks cast now #Hollyoaks "

The dancing brothers were certainly excited about their roles in the soap, with AJ saying when originally confirming the news: "I can’t believe we will be featuring on Hollyoaks, we have grown up with the show on TV and it’s always been one of our favourite serial dramas."
