Hollyoaks actor Billy Price has revealed why his character Sid Sumner had to die, in a devastating twist to the County Lines storyline.
Fans did not see it coming on Tuesday night when Victor managed to catch up with Sid, after learning he had recorded a confession of his crimes and planned to drop him in it with the police.
But Victor managed to steal the USB containing the videos and audio, before stabbing Sid and leaving him to die in harrowing scenes.
Sid had teamed with James Nightingale to try to free James' sister Juliet from prison, and take down Victor once and for all by recording his confession.
Ste Hay managed to find Sid soon after the stabbing, and held him in his arms as he screamed out for help.
But Wednesday's episode brought the tragic news Sid had died from his injuries, and Victor had claimed another victim.
Viewers were in tears as the village reacted to the news, and speaking exclusively to The Mirror Sid actor Billy promised there was much more to come.
He revealed that Sid's surprising demise, which Billy only found out about two weeks before filming, would lead on to a chain of events that would eventually lead to the "fall and burn" of Victor and his crime organisation.
But while it's not clear when that will be, Sid's death will immediately spark a unity in the village as everyone gets together to try and bring Victor down.
After grassing his friend up to Victor in exchange for drugs, Ollie will also team up with Ste who forces him into working for Victor, to finish what Sid started.
Billy told us: "All Sid had to do was take Victor down and prove to the police that all these kids were groomed. He done it, he managed to knock the first domino that saw a fall of Victor's County Lines organisation.

"Unfortunately he had to die in the process, sacrifices had to be made."
He went on: "Sid's death is going to shock the village, it is out of the blue and it has happened to a boy who may seem troubled and a bad influence on the village, but it is actually someone who cared for everyone and just wanted to be accepted.
"Those who are closest to him will know this and will struggle to come to terms with it.
"I only knew a couple of weeks before that Sid was dying. It is something we have had to keep on the down low and it’s a huge ending to the County Lines storyline."
On what lies ahead, Billy told us: "Sid started taking Victor down and it’s only right that Ste finishes it. Ste has lost almost a brother/son. He is as courageous and determined as Sid. Victor is not walking away from this.
"Ollie and Ste team up to tie Victor down. This is something that Ollie feels like he HAS to do as he feels guilty and responsible for causing Sid's death."
