Holly Willoughby had a simply brutal response when her former ITV rival suggested they hosted Good Morning Britain.

Piers Morgan has revealed what the This Morning star texted him when he jokingly floated the idea.

It came after the controversial journalist had seen the front cover of a magazine which asked "Holly & Piers – can they save GMB?"

Piers, 56, revealed the awkward exchange in his latest column for the Daily Mail.

He said: "I wouldn’t hold your breath for this particular TV dream team," before explaining how their conversation went.

The presenter, who dramatically left his role on the ITV news programme earlier this year, joked: "'I want the biggest dressing room,' I texted Ms Willoughby."

To which Piers claimed that she fired back: "'You can have it,' she replied. 'I won’t be there.'"

During his time on GMB, Piers regularly mocked Holly, 40, and her This Morning co-host Phillip Schofield over their presenting style.

He also didn't take it well when the pair continually won awards - particularly the National Television Award which they have won multiple times.

There could have been a new ITV duo

Despite that, the pair appeared to get on well off-screen with Holly even offering Piers some sage advice.

Piers previously revealed how felt "concerned" after his sudden GMB exit.

"Holly Willoughby was more concerned about my blood pressure from all the GMB ranting," Piers said.

"'Do you meditate?' she asked. "'No,' I replied, 'But I did drink a ginseng latte today if you're trying to woke me up?'"

Piers said that Holly advised him to take an "online course to offset some of this anger".

He explained: "Holly then sent me a link to one that costs £249 for seven hours of meditation technique training live-broadcasted to my home which would include advice on 'managing difficult situations', 'nailing interviews' and 'making hangovers less horrible'."

But he politely declined, adding: "Problem is that I can’t imagine anything more boring than not being ruled by my emotions."

Holly is currently back on-screen with neither Piers or Phillip as her co-host.

The mum-of-three is currently sharing hosting duties with The Chase star Bradley Walsh on their BBC gameshow, Take Off.
