"But this summer the €75million release clause will not be valid: [anyone] who wants Haaland will have to negotiate with Borussia Dortmund; they will not want to discount anyone.

"The clubs Raiola spoke of are Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus, PSG and Bayern Munich, as well as Borussia."

The player’s lawyer, Fali Ramadani, supposedly met with Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, to present a firm offer from the German giants.

The offer reportedly falls €45m short of Napoli's value of the player, but they might be forced to sell anyway in the summer due to financial problems caused by Covid-19.

What?

According to the Daily Mirror, both Liverpool and Manchester United have had Barnes watched, though it should not take too much watching to work out that he might be a good signing.

Could it almost be a repeat of the Diogo Jota transfer from last summer, as has been suggested by some, in terms of Barnes being a player who could take the next step at Anfield?

Well, possibly. But that would require Liverpool to be in the Champions League spots, which is far from guaranteed as things stand.
