The 55-year-old Sense and Sensibility star was paired with 39-year-old Karen Hauer for the 2021 series of Strictly.
The duo slipped up with some of their steps last weekend, however, and found themselves in a dance off with Loose Women star Judi Love and her dance pro Graziano Di Prima – with Greg and Karen ultimately losing the face off and getting dumped from the competition.
During one of the earlier rounds on Strictly, Greg had dedicated a performance to his late sister, Clare – who sadly passed away in 2016 at the age of 51 following a battle against cancer.
After being voted off Strictly on Sunday night’s results show, Greg sat down on spin-off series It Takes Two where he explained how hurt he had been when show judge Craig, 56, had slated his disco performance on October 2nd which he had dedicated to Clare.
He said: “For whatever reason, I think there was little appreciation of what I was bringing to the party for the whole of the 4 weeks from Craig, bless him.
“And we got a three for the disco number as well, that I danced for my dead sis.”
Speaking about his sister previously, Greg said: "My sister was first diagnosed with breast cancer and she had the brutal treatment of chemotherapy.
"But I don't think she was ever out of the woods, because it was found out early on she had bone cancer and she died a year later.
"It is one of the hardest things when you are with someone you love and you are witnessing their pain and fear and you are working out what you can do to mitigate that."
He added before taking to the dancefloor: "It is an extraordinary privilege to be able to care in that way, and the privilege and trauma wrap themselves up in the love.
"I think my sister would be absolutely thrilled that I'm doing this because of her."
Greg and Karen’s route towards the Strictly Glitterball Trophy came to an end over the weekend, however, after they performed a Samba to the sound of the Los del Mar classic 1995 song The Macarena.
The judges were quite harsh with their criticism on both Saturday and Sunday night as they branded Greg and Karen’s dance as messy.
During the results show, Motsi Mabuse said: “In the dance-off I feel like both couples made mistakes and they were quite clear, but I feel that one couple recovered a little bit better with the situation. So I’m going to save Judi and Graziano.”
Anton agreed, saying: “I felt that the nerves got to both of the couples in the dance off, which is not surprising really, and they both made quite a lot of mistakes, but one couple maintained an element of composure through the dance and that would be Judi and Graziano.”
He said during Saturday night’s show: "It did look like you had just came out of a double hip replacement operation! Very clunky!
"Especially through the hip circles, technically really quite bad, I'm trying to find something..."
After his exit at the time, Greg said: “I have had an amazing time, I feel unbelievably privileged and thank you all for having me.”

While Karen gushed: “It has been a blast, thank you for the amazing lunches, thanks for the quality of work, and for being an amazing student.
“I have enjoyed our moments in the classroom, and just having fun with you, I’ve really enjoyed it.”Read More Read More
