Grant McCann has revealed exactly where he hopes to strengthen Hull City’s squad ahead of the Tigers return to the Championship.
Since winning the League One title, McCann has seen loan stars Gavin Whyte, Regan Slater and Dan Crowley leave, while Reece Burke and George Long have both signed contracts elsewhere leaving City light in key areas of the pitch.
George Moncur became McCann’s first arrival a week ago when he penned a two-year deal following his departure from Luton Town, with McCann saying two further additions were close.
The Tigers were linked with a move for Chelsea goalkeeper Nathan Baxter over the weekend, and City’s title-winning boss says in between the posts is certainly an area the club are looking to strengthen in.

“I don’t think I’ve made any secret of that,” McCann told the BBC.
“We want to add some competition to Matty Ingram’s position, goalkeeper is high on the agenda.”
Given the departures at the end of the campaign, City remain keen to bolster their ranks further up the pitch, as well as bringing in cover to compensate for Burke’s exit.
“We want to bring in another player in the top end of the pitch whether that’s going to be a number nine or off the sides,” explained McCann, who remains patient in his quest to clinch a permanent deal for Regan Slater.
“We’re looking to add in the right-side centre-half position with Reece Burke going, we’re working very hard in all those positions.
“We’ve got lots of options in those positions, but it’s about us picking the right one and the player picking the right club, and that’s what we’re trying to do.”
