Mystery has always surrounded the secret network of underground tunnels below Blackpool and exactly what lies beneath the seaside resort.
One former Gogglebox star has given her own opinion at what - or who - she thinks may be hiding underground.
Scarlett Moffatt reckons Elvis Presley is living beneath the much-loved seaside resort
Scarlett, who won I’m A Celebrity in 2016, believes he is still rocking 40 years after his death.
She says The King inhabits a “rabbit warren” of tunnels linking Blackpool Tower and the town’s Winter Gardens, reports the Daily Star.
The attractions, both opened in the late 19th Century, are less than half a mile from each other. It has been previously claimed a maze of tunnels was built so actors could go “back and forth” between them.
In 2015, Blackpool Council revealed they were aware of six “subterranean features” under the town, but stressed they were not suitable for people or cars.
But a council spokesperson said there was “no evidence” of a tunnel between the Tower and Winter Gardens, as many locals had believed.
However some conspiracy theorists are still to be convinced, and Scarlett has given her own verdict.
Elvis died in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1977, aged just 42. But Scarlett, 30, said: “I believe that Elvis is still alive and lives under Blackpool Tower.
“I’ve looked into this in great, great detail, and underneath Blackpool Tower and the Winter Gardens – where there have been lots of sightings of Elvis – there are tunnels underneath.
“They run directly from the Winter Gardens to the Tower, and apparently that’s how Elvis gets about.
“I reckon Elvis moved to Blackpool and gets around unnoticed in the tunnels.”
She went on: “Think about it – embrace your inner Elvis – if you love Vegas, what’s the closest place to Vegas that isn’t Vegas? Blackpool!
“Why wouldn’t Elvis want to live in Blackpool It’s got the charm, it’s got the neon lights…
“Elvis always said he was a fan of the UK.”
Scarlett said she had checked the electoral roll and found there were seven people called Elvis living in Blackpool. She claimed that “surely out of those seven the real one is going to be there”.
Bosses at Blackpool Tower have never denied the existence of the tunnels.
A spokesperson confirmed: “It’s a rabbit warren below ground level.”
